Houston, Texas- The second-ranked Nebraska bowling team won the title at the Track Kat Klash, defeating top-ranked McKendree in the championship final of the best-of-seven Baker format championship tournament Sunday in Houston, Texas.
The Cornhuskers finished the weekend with a 10-2 record and a total pinfall of 12,462.
The Huskers started Sunday’s tournament as the first seed and took down Mckendree in the first round by a score of 4-3. This victory sent the Huskers straight to the final championship match and sent Mckendree to play third-ranked Arkansas State for a spot in the championship match. Mckendree defeated Arkansas State in seven games for a rematch in the championship final.
The Huskers held their ground, defeating Mckendree 4-1 to win the title.
Junior Meghan Straub finished second in the individual standings with an average of 218.2. Straub earned a spot on the all-tournament team for her perfomance.
The Huskers will return to the lanes next Friday through Sunday at the Warhawk Classic in Kenosha, Wis.
