Former Nebraska running backs highlight Week 10 of Huskers in the NFL, as Rex Burkhead, Andy Janovich and Ameer Abdullah each had impressive performances for their teams over the weekend.
Burkhead had 10 rushes for 36 yards for the New England Patriots. Additionally, he had three catches for 27 yards and one touchdown, helping New England cruise to a 41-16 win over the Denver Broncos. On special teams, Burkhead blocked a punt, becoming the first player to have a receiving touchdown and block a punt in the same game since 1977. It was the first blocked punt by a Patriot since 2014. In the same game, Janovich played at fullback and on special teams for the Broncos. He had one rush for three yards and a 10-yard kickoff return. Abdullah started for the Detroit Lions and had 11 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown. He also had one catch for three yards in the 38-24 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
On the offensive line Richie Incognito (Buffalo Bills), Brent Qvale (New York Jets) and Spencer Long (Washington Redskins) each played, with Incognito getting the start at left guard.
Cethan Carter played on special teams for the Cincinnati Bengals and recorded one tackle.
On the defensive side, linebackers Lavonte David (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Zaire Anderson (Denver Broncos) and Will Compton (Washington Redskins) each saw action. David started and had eight tackles and recovered a fumble. Anderson played on defense and on special teams, while Compton started, played on special teams and recorded one tackle.
Chicago Bears' cornerback Prince Amukamara started at cornerback and played every defensive snap. He also recorded one tackle. Maliek Collins started at defensive tackle and played on special teams for the Dallas Cowboys.
In the Monday night game, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh started for the Miami Dolphins and had three tackles.
