Fort Worth, Texas -- The Nebraska rifle team ended the weekend in Texas with a win against Memphis, defeating the Tigers 4,665-4,640.
Nebraska’s season-high smallbore score of 2,315 would ultimately propel the team to victory. Hannah Virga led the charge with a career-high score of 585. Nina Radulovic and Emily Cheramie added marks of 579 and 578, respectively. Samantha Peterson (573) and Dacotah Faught (565) rounded out the Huskers.
In air rifle the two teams ended up tying, each with a score of 2,350. Dacotah Faught was out front with a score of 592. Maddie Korthas was close behind with a career-high score of 590. Hannah Virga (585), Nina Radulovic (583) and Samantha Peterson (581) brought in solid scores to complete Nebraska’s effort.
Memphis fired a 2,290 in smallbore and could not overcome the deficit in air rifle, despite Adriana Hickerson and Leighton Dempster bringing in scores of 593 and 591, respectively.
Nebraska will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face Kentucky, Air Force and Ohio State on Nov. 18-19. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
