Pre-Wisconsin
Redshirt Freshman Defensive Back Dicaprio Bootle
On Saturday’s game against Wisconsin:
“It’s pretty big for us. We’re ready for it. Whatever we have to do to make sure we get these wins in the next couple of weeks, we’re going to do it. That’s just kind of the direction we’re headed in.”
On Chris Jones being cleared to practice:
“I mean, he never really went anywhere. He’s still always around, coaching us up and helping us out, but to have him back on the field would be big for us, and we’re happy that he’s back. It makes us even stronger.”
On when Jones could potentially play in a game:
“I’m not sure. It’s all on his time. He has his time frame with the doctors and that kind of stuff, so I wouldn’t know and I can’t really put a time on it, but I know whenever he’s ready to come back, it’ll be big.”
On what has been working for the defense over the last few games:
“We’re just going out there and playing hard, really. We don’t want to give up anything. We don’t want to give them any yards. Every time we can go out there and get a 4-and-out, we try to get it. Just that, playing with an edge.”
On if the team has a different mindset when the opponent is in the red zone:
“I wouldn’t say a completely different mindset, because we’re tough anywhere we are on the field. We try to play the best ball we can, but when they get into the red zone, it’s kind of like another switch flips on. Just because they’re down there, doesn’t mean they have to get any points. We try to keep them as far away from a touchdown as we can. We just keep defending and try not to give up anything, really. Not even a field goal.”
On the confidence level on the defense:
“I’d say we’re pretty confident in where we are and where we’re going in the defense that we want to be and the defense that we will be. It’ll be a good next couple of weeks for us.”
