Maliek Collins' two sacks on Monday Night highlighted performances by 16 former Huskers in the NFL in Week 3, as the former Blackshirt helped the Dallas Cowboys to a 28-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Collins, one of 10 former Huskers to earn starts over the weekend, racked up five tackles, while his two sacks totaled 12 yards in the winning effort.
The starting lineup for the Washington Redskins had a distinct Nebraska feel on Sunday Night, as Spencer Long, Will Compton and Niles Paul each started and contributed to a dominant 27-10 win over the Oakland Raiders. Long started at center and helped the Washington offense pile up 472 total yards, while Compton started at middle linebacker and made a tackle and Paul started at tight end and caught a pass.
Ameer Abdullah racked up 86 yards of total offense, including 47 on the ground and 39 through the air for the Lions in a 30-26 loss to the Falcons, highlighted by a 22-yard reception in the second quarter.
After sitting out the first two games with an injury for the Chicago Bears, cornerback Prince Amukamara saw his first action of the season and made three tackles and defended two passes in a 23-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brent Qvale played at tackle and on special teams for the Jets on Sunday, helping pave the way for 336 yards of total offense in a 20-6 win over the Dolphins. Also in the Dolphins-Jets game, Ndamukong Suh made four tackles and forced a fumble for Miami.
Richie Incognito started at left guard for the Bills in their 26-16 win over the Denver Broncos, while Matt Slauson helped the Chargers' offense total 330 yards in a 24-10 loss to the Chiefs.
Lavonte David continued his stalwart play for the Tampa Bay defense, finishing Sunday's loss to the Vikings with seven tackles, but left the game with an ankle injury. X-rays were negative, according to Tampa Bay head coach Dirk Koetter.
