Three Huskers Finish in Top Six at UNO Invite

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. -- Kate Smith earned a collegiate career-best runner-up finish to lead the Nebraska women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the UNO Invitational at ArborLinks Golf Course on Saturday.

Smith, a sophomore from Detroit Lakes, Minn., fired a three-round score of 221 (76-70-75) to finish seven strokes back of individual medalist Natalie Roth (214) from North Dakota State.

Smith, who notched the fifth top-10 tournament finish as a Husker, was joined in the top six individually by fellow Huskers Audrey Judd and Haley Thiele.

Judd, a senior from Olathe, Kan., took fourth with a three-round total of 225 (78-70-77) to secure her third top-five finish in her past five collegiate tournaments.

Thiele, a sophomore from Wahoo, Neb., added a tie for sixth with a 227 (72-77-78) in her return to the Nebraska lineup after sitting out the 2016-17 season as a redshirt with an injury.

Overall, Nebraska finished a three-round team score of 899 (301-289-309) to finish seven strokes behind the tournament champions from North Dakota State (892). NU's second-place finish marked its best team finish since winning the Mountain View Collegiate in the spring of 2014.

Sophomore Annie Sritragul (Bangkok, Thailand) gave Nebraska four top-10 finishers by tying for ninth place with a score of 229 (76-73-80), while fellow sophomore Jessica Haraden posted a career-best score and finish, tying for 19th overall with a score of 232 (77-76-79).

True freshman Noor Ahmed (Folsom, Calif.) earned a 231 (76-79-76) to tie for 17th, while senior Emily Gillman (Austin, Texas) managed a 240 (73-86-81) to tie for 32nd. Ahmed and Gillman played as individuals outside the Husker lineup..
