Q&A with Jennie Laeng

Jennie Laeng capped her career at Nebraska with a strong senior season, leading the Huskers back to the NCAA Championships for a fourth time. She also helped the Huskers to a pair of Big Ten regular-season championships in her time at Nebraska, including one in her senior season in 2017. During her career, Laeng was a two-time All-Big Ten performer, a three-time member of the Big Ten All-Championships Team and the 2015 Big Ten uneven bars co-champion.

In addition to her strong work in the gym, Laeng was a standout in the classroom and the community throughout her four years as a Husker. A spring 2017 graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Laeng earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, a Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship, and she was also a recipient of the Nebraska Outstanding Scholar Award. A three-time NACGC/W Scholastic All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Laeng also claimed a prestigious Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2015 and a Nebraska Heart & Soul Award in 2017. She earned eight spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete honor roll, four spots on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, and was a member of the Nebraska Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Jennie took a few minutes from her challenging academic and athletic schedule to answer some questions and give us a little insight into her life outside the gym.
