Kate Smith tied for 14th individually to lead the Nebraska women's golf team to an 11th-place finish in a strong 14-team field at the Central District Invitational in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Tuesday.
Smith, a freshman from Detroit Lakes, Minn., produced a final-round 77 to finish with a 54-hole total of 223 on the 6,265-yard, par-72 layout of the St. Lucie Trail Golf Club. It was Smith's sixth consecutive top-25 finish to open her Nebraska career.
Smith helped the Huskers post a final-round 307 to finish with a three-round score of 932. Nebraska climbed one spot in the final team standings, moving ahead of the College of Charleston. The Big Red also outperformed fellow Big Ten foes Iowa (943) and Rutgers (947) in the final tournament standings.
Junior Audrey Judd carded Nebraska's best individual round of the day with a four-over-par 76. Judd finished with a three-round score of 242 in a tie for 63rd. Senior Sarah Pravecek fired a 77 for the second straight round to post Nebraska's second-best overall finish with a 234 to tie for 40th. Freshman Annie Sritragul added a 77 of her own to close at 240 in a tie for 59th.
Junior Emily Gillman completed the Husker contingent with an 84 to end the tournament in 75th at 253.
The Huskers continue spring action at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 26-27
