Huskers Lead the Way in Memphis

Memphis, Tenn.--- The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team traveled to Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday to face Memphis and JSU.  By the end of the day the Huskers had added two more wins to their record, defeating both teams with a score of 4,656.  Memphis was next with a score of 4,650, with JSU earning a score of 4,628.

Rachel Martin led the Huskers in smallbore with a score of 582.  Samantha Petersen fired a 574, with Dacotah Faught and Nina Radulovic earning 574 and 573, respectively.  Nebraska trailed Memphis at the conclusion of smallbore, 2,303 – 2,301.

The Huskers mounted a comeback in air rifle.  Dacotah Faught led the way with a 593, with Rachel Martin and Jaycee Carter notching a 590 and 589, respectively.   Nebraska’s air rifle score of 2,355 was enough to vault them into the lead.

David Sink led JSU in smallbore with a 579, while Brandon Muske notched a 590 in air rifle.  Levi Clark scored a 578 to lead Memphis in smallbore, while Leighton Dempster led the team in air rifle with a 589.

Nebraska will host Alaska at the Nebraska Rifle Range on Thursday, Feb. 2.  Competition is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am.
