Transfer Faith Carter Joins Husker Soccer Team

The Nebraska soccer team announced the addition of Faith Carter to the roster on Friday. Carter will begin at Nebraska in January.

“I’m so excited to become a Husker,” Carter said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with Coach Walker, his staff and my new teammates. I can’t wait to play in my home state.”

Carter, a Papillion, Neb., native, joins the Huskers after spending two seasons at Texas Christian University under Coach Eric Bell. In 2016, she made 21 appearances and helped the Horned Frogs to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Carter scored seven goals, the second-most on the team, and tallied two assists.

As a freshman in 2015, Carter played in all 19 games, and made seven starts. She scored three goals and added two assists. On Sept. 8, she was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week after TCU defeated Maryland and Oral Roberts.

Before TCU, Carter attended Omaha Marian, where she helped the team to a pair of state titles (2012, 2014) and a state runner-up finish in 2015. Over the span of her high school career, Carter scored 50 goals and was inducted into the Nebraska High School Black Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. She earned first-team all-state honors in 2014 after making the second team as a freshman and sophomore.

Carter played club soccer for Elite Girls Academy under Coach Marcus Kelcher. Carter’s sister Ashley played for the Huskers in 2003, scoring six goals over the span of 22 games.
