Huskers Selected for NCAA Tournament

The Nebraska soccer team earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament when the 64-team bracket was announced on Monday.

The Huskers will host South Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:05 p.m. (CT) at Barbara Hibner Stadium in the first round. The winner will face either fourth-seeded UCLA or Seattle in the second round.

This year marks the 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, and first since 2013. NU has made it to the Sweet 16 on eight occasions, and twice advanced to the Elite Eight. Nebraska holds a 16-11 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskers are 11-5-4 this season, and finished sixth in the Big Ten with a 5-3-3 mark. In the Big Ten quarterfinals, Nebraska tied then-No. 20 Northwestern, 0-0, but the Wildcats advanced to the semifinals from the penalty kick shootout.

The second round (Nov. 18), third round (Nov. 20) and quarterfinals (Nov. 25 or 26) will each be held at campus sites leading up to the Women’s College Cup Semifinals (Dec. 2) and National Championship Game (Dec. 4), both of which will be played at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.
