Huskers Clash with Kansas in Battle of Unbeatens

The Nebraska swimming and diving team will play host to Kansas in regular-season dual action at the Devaney Natatorium on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.

The Huskers head into the meet with a 3-0 record following last week's victory over Northern Iowa in their regular-season home opener at the Devaney Natatorium. The Big Red opened the season with road wins at Iowa State and South Dakota State.

Kansas also enters the dual at 3-0. The Jayhawks own wins over Missouri State, North Dakota and TCU. KU is coming off a 190-108 win over TCU on Oct. 27.

Kansas leads the all-time series with the Huskers, capturing 24-11, including a 180-119 win over Nebraska last season in Lawrence. In last season's meeting of the former Big Eight and Big 12 Conference rivals, Anna Filipcic notched victories in both the one- and the three-meter diving competitions. Filipcic, a two-time Big Ten Diver of the Week in 2016-17, is coming off of a record-setting performance in last week's win over UNI, when she set the Devaney Natatorium record in the one-meter dive. Filipcic, a senior from Omaha, Neb., earned All-America honors for the Huskers last season.

Following this weekend's match up, Erin Oeltjen and Dana Posthuma will travel to Indiana to represent the Huskers in the USA College Challenge. The event, which features some of the top current swimmers from the Big Ten against members of Team USA, will give Oeltjen and Posthuma an opportunity to swim alongside Olympians Lilly King, Leah Smith, Lindsey Clary and Gabby DeLoof. The USA College Challenge will be held at the Indiana University Natatorium, Nov. 12-13. It will be televised live by the Big Ten Network and streamed live at BTN2Go.com.

Huskers Swim to 3-0 After Northern Iowa win 

Anna Filipcic set a Devaney Natatorium record in the one-meter dive to lead the Nebraska swimming and diving team to a 191-105 victory over Northern Iowa on Oct. 28.

Filipcic, a senior from Omaha, Neb., who earned All-America honors for the Huskers in 2016, produced a Devaney-record 322.05 in the one meter, while adding a victory in the three-meter dive with a score of 357.48 to sweep the diving events for Nebraska. 

In addition to Nebraska's domination in the well, the Huskers won 11 individual events and added a relay victory in the pool to improve to 3-0 on the season in dual action.

Erin Oeltjen, a senior from Omaha, Neb., raced to victories in the 100-yard backstroke (56.28) and the 100 butterfly (56.57).

Sophomore Kaylyn Flatt joined Filipcic and Oeltjen in producing a pair of individual victories. Flatt sprinted to a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.79) before outlasting the field in the 1,000-yard free with a time of 10:32.62. Flatt pitched in a second-place finish in the 100-yard free in a time of 53.09.

Junior Jordan Ehly from Albuquerque, N.M., swam to a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.62), while adding a runner-up finish in the 400 individual medley (4:29.36).

Sophomore Bridget Pacilio edged Ehly in the 400 IM, cruising to a winning time of 4:26.39.

Senior captain Julia Roller stormed to victory in the 500-yard freestyle coming in at 5:11.88, while adding a runner-up finish of her own in the 50 free (24.61).

Freshman Allie Worrall continued Nebraska's strong effort in the freestyle events with a win in the 100 free (52.09). Sophomore Dana Posthuma had a first place finish for the Huskers in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.85, while freshman Tori Beeler won the 200 breaststroke (2:19.16).

The Huskers set the tone overall for the meet with a winning time of 3:49.13 in the 400-yard medley relay.
