Filipcic Earns Second Big Ten Honor of the Season

On Wednesday, Nebraska diver Anna Filipcic earned her second Big Ten Diver-of-the-Week honor of the season, following her record-breaking performance against the University of Northern Iowa on Oct. 28.

Her first award of the season came on Wednesday, October 12, and this week's honor marks the seventh time she has been chosen as Big Ten Diver of the Week.

During the meet against UNI, Omaha, Neb., native Filipcic set a Devaney Natatorium pool record in the one-meter dive with her score of 322.05. The 2016 Big Ten runner-up on the one-meter board also had a solid performance in the three meter, finishing first with a score of 357.48.  Her performances this season have already qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships later this season.

NCAA All-American Filipcic has had an impressive career with the Huskers, setting the school record in the three-meter dive at Illinois last season with a score of 359.03. Her other accolades include Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, Academic All-Big Ten and first team CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Filipcic and the Huskers will be back at the Devaney on Saturday, Nov. 5, when they host the Kansas Jayhawks. The dual begins at 2 p.m.
