Filipcic Earns Consecutive Big Ten Honors

Nebraska's Anna Filipcic was awarded her third Big Ten Diver-of-the-Week honor of the 2016 season. This is Filipcic's second consecutive Big Ten honor and the eighth of her career, following her record-breaking performance against the University of Kansas Jayhawks on Nov. 5.

The All-American Omaha native has had an impressive season so far, with back-to-back record-breaking performances in the past two weeks. In the home opener against Northern Iowa on Oct. 28, Filipcic broke the Devany Natatorium pool record for the one-meter dive with a score of 322.05. The week after, Filipcic broke her own Nebraska school record in the three-meter dive (previously 359.03), finishing first place at 372.30. Her strong performances at the beginning of the season have already qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships later this season.

Team captain Filipcic is one of the most decorated divers in Nebraska's history, qualifying for the NCAA Championships three years in a row and becoming an NCAA All-American last season. Her other accolades include Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, Academic All-Big Ten and first-team CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Filipcic and the Huskers hold a 4-0 record on the 2016 season and will return to the Devaney on Saturday, Jan. 14 to compete against the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
