Smith Closes Fall with Fifth Straight Top 25 Finish

Boulder City, Nev. - Kate Smith, Audrey Judd and Emily Gillman produced solid rounds to lead the Nebraska women's golf team in the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Tuesday.

Smith, a freshman from Detroit Lakes, Minn., fired a one-under-par 71 to close the tournament with a three-under-par 141 over 36 holes. Smith finished the tournament in a tie for 21st to notch her fifth consecutive top-25 showing to open her career. She also finished the fall portion of Nebraska's schedule with six rounds of better than par among her 13 fall rounds.

"Kate Smith has played phenomenal," Nebraska Coach Robin Krapfl said. "She has provided the consistent low number we need to be successful."

Judd, a junior from Olathe, Kan., also continued her strong play to close the fall with an even-par 72 on the 6,301-yard layout at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. Judd finished in a tie for 36th with a one-under-par 143 over 36 holes.

Gillman, a junior from Austin, Texas, added a one-over-par 73, while freshman Annie Sritragul (Bangkok, Thailand) and senior Sarah Pravecek (Omaha, Neb.) both managed scores of 76 on Tuesday. Sritragul tied Gillman in 84th overall at 150, while Pravecek tied for 89th at 151.

As a team, Nebraska shot a 292 on Tuesday to finish the rain-shortened tournament at 582. The Huskers finished 15th in the 19-team field.

"We did a lot of good things this fall, and our returning players made some nice progress since last spring," Krapfl said. "Audrey especially has come on strong. Sarah has done a great job with the freshmen. Our freshmen as a whole have had a good start to their Husker careers."

Baylor ran away with the team title with a 25-under-par total of 551, while the hosts from UNLV finished eight strokes back at 559.

Baylor's Amy Lee took medalist honors with a nine-under-par 135 (68-67), while Greta Isabella Voelker from Texas finished second at 136 (71-65).

The Huskers will return to action for the spring portion of their schedule at the Central District Invitational in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Feb. 20-21.
