Huskers Add UT Martin Shooter

Lincoln, Neb. --- Nebraska's head rifle coach Ashley MacAllister announced Thursday that Dacotah Faught (Amenia, N.D.) has signed with the Huskers and will join the rifle program for the 2016-17 season.

"We are so excited to add Dacotah to our team," MacAllister said. "Dacotah is coming to us from the UT Martin where she was an All-American. Not only does she excel athletically but she is an exceptional person who embodies everything we are looking for here a Nebraska. Dacotah is going to bring experience to a team that is relatively young. She will be joining Rachel Martin and Jaycee Carter who will be leading the team next year. We are lucky to have her as a Husker this fall."

Faught comes to NU after spending three seasons at the University of Tennessee at Martin, but will have two years of eligibility left after redshirting during the 2015-16 season to train for the Olympics. After being granted a full release, Faught will be able to compete for the Huskers this upcoming season.

The Amenia, N.D., native had an impressive career with the Skyhawks, becoming only the third member of the UT Martin rifle program to earn an All-America honor after being named a second team All-American by the NRA in 2015. Faught holds both the smallbore (585) and air rifle school records (597), breaking the first as a sophomore and the latter as a freshman. Faught earned four All-OVC awards in her first two seasons and was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year after the 2013-14 season.

Off the range, Faught has been a star in the classroom. As a freshman, she was named to the CRCA All-Academic Team and was also named to the OVC's Commissioner Honor Roll.

Faught attended Central Cass High School and had a successful junior career with the Buffalo Sharpshooters under coach Dan Guerts. Faught was named the 2013 Female Junior Olympic Air Rifle Champion of North Dakota.

In 2012, Faught won the state smallbore championship and competed in the Olympic team trails. In 2011, she brought home the Class A air rifle national championship.

Additionally, Faught has appeared at the National Junior Olympic competition at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., every year since 2008.

Dacotah is the daughter of Paul and LaDonna Faught and was born on Sept. 6, 1994. She is majoring in chemistry.
