Huskers Set Sights on Season Opener

Lincoln, Neb. --- The Nebraska football team practiced for two hours in full pads and helmets on Tuesday afternoon. The defense practiced inside the Hawks Championship Center while the offense practiced outside on the Ed and Joanne Gass Practice Fields.

Offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf met with the media after practice briefly discussing the team’s direction going into Fresno State.

“[We’re] just kind of fine tuning the end of camp; making sure we’re detailed in our alignments and our plays,” Langsdorf said. “We’re going to start introducing some Fresno [State] stuff. We’ve got a lot of time spent on studying them so we’re going to incorporate some of that, but we’ve got to finish the details in camp right now.”

Langsdorf also mentioned that redshirt decisions have not been made yet, but may surface this week.

“We’re still working through that,” Langsdorf said. “I am sure Coach [Riley] will announce that in the next few days, but it’s a daily conversation for sure.”

Langsdorf addressed his thoughts on who will play left guard as Jerald Foster suffered a season-ending injury last week, while senior Corey Whitaker is also sidelined by an injury.

“We’ve got a couple guys in Sam Hahn, Cole Conrad, Boe Wilson, Jalin Barnett, there’s a good group of guys,” Langsdorf said. “I thought [true freshman] Boe [Wilson] played pretty well in the scrimmage and had some good things from Sam [Hahn]. He’s (Sam Hahn) kind of a swing guy. He’s kind of played all over. He can play guard, he can play tackle. Cole Conrad is kind of doing the same thing. Those interior guys are pretty flexible.”
