Taylor Edwards Named to All-NPF Team

Former Husker Taylor Edwards was recognized as one of the top players in the National Pro Fastpitch at the league's award banquet on Thursday, Aug. 18. Edwards, a two-time All-American at Nebraska and the 2014 Division I Catcher of the Year, was named to the 2016 All-NPF team at the banquet, marking the second straight season she earned All-NPF honors.

Edwards made her case as one of the league's top hitters again in 2016 in her second season with the Chicago Bandits. In 43 regular-season games, Edwards led the Bandits with a .353 average, nine doubles, 10 homers and 34 RBIs. In the regular season, Edwards ranked second in the league in home runs, third in RBIs, fourth in doubles and fifth in triples (5), while ranking fourth in batting average among players with a minimum of 50 at bats.

Taylor and her twin sister Tatum, who was also a two-time All-American at Nebraska and the 2013 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, are hoping to lead the Bandits to a second consecutive NPF title this season. The Edwards twins and the Bandits open a three-game series against former Husker two-time All-American Kiki Stokes and the Scrap Yard Dawgs on Friday. The winner of the series will play a three-game series for the 2016 NPF championship.
