Junior, Cornerback
Jones on what he wants to work on
“[I want to work on] technique, not getting beat. We want to lock down everybody that steps in front of us. That’s what we're going to do.”
On how different it feels being a starter, opposed to last year
“It don’t feel no different. At least to me it doesn’t. I just feel that I’m still one of those young guys coming in and still trying to aim for a spot. Even though, I am a starter, there’s still a place that I want to go. I want to win that Thorpe Award. There’s somebody else that they think is better than me, so I just want to be better than I am now.”
On working with such a good group of receivers
“We probably have the best receiving corps and Coach (Keith) Williams is really doing a great job with those guys. And going up against those guys is really helping me out a lot. We have all types of receivers, fast, strong, possession catchers, great route runners. We go against each type of receiver you can think of, so every receiver we’re going to face this season, it’s not like we’ve never seen them before.”
On working with Coach Brian Stewart
“It helps a lot, especially for the young guys coming in. It helped them out again. When he’s talking to us, he’s actually talking to us too. They’re learning, picking up on what we’re picking up on. They need that knowledge, they need that extra learning period, so when they start practice there is no confusion.”
On his advice to the younger guys
“It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there when you come into fall camp. You've got to get yours, too. You've got to grind for yours just like I’m going to grind for mine. They're gunning at me, just like I’m one of them, gunning for somebody ahead of me.”
