Harris Medals in 200 at USA Junior Championships

Nebraska track and field sprinter Lakayla Harris finished third in the 200 meters at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Clovis, Calif.

Harris posted a wind-legal time of 23.44 in the final and was just one spot shy of earning an automatic bidt to Poland in July for the IAAF World U20 Championships. She will likely serve as an alternate for Team USA. On Saturday, Husker freshman Cale Wagner won the decathlon to earn an automatic bid to Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The only other Husker to compete on Sunday was Nick Coghill, who finished seventh in the discus with a best mark of 181-1 (55.19).

This week, Cody Rush, Tierra Williams and Sarah Firestone will head to Eugene, Ore., for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, set for June 30-July 10.
