N Club Initiatives

 N Club Giving Back - Past Projects Supported

N Club members have and will continue to support University of Nebraska Athletic Department initiatives that are consistent with the N Club mission of having a positive impact on the current student-athlete population. In recent years, the N Club has made generous financial contributions to the Dick and Peg Herman Family Student Life Complex as well as the East Stadium Athlete Performance Lab.

 Inner Circle

The Inner Circle is a leadership group integrating student-athletes with N Club members who have distinguished themselves in their chosen career. Representatives from every athletic team will participate in Inner Circle attending evening meetings once a month, each time hearing from a letterwinner about the Nebraska experience, life after sports, career transitions and leadership development.

 Husker Networking Night

An annual fall semester life skills event, all 2nd-year Husker student-athletes are required to attend this valuable career networking event. Letterwinners from the area thriving in their chosen careers will be invited back to Memorial Stadium to participate in the event. The Husker Networking Night allows current student-athletes to learn about the art of networking and a chance to practice the skill after gathering information and insight from career professionals. Networking Night professionals, most of which are past letterwinners, host tables for group discussions and participate in a networking reception to cap off the evening.

Student-Athlete Career Fair

An annual spring semester life skills event, the Student-Athlete Career Fair kicks off UNL Career Week. Approximately 40 companies from the Midwest and beyond who are seeking competitive candidates attend the fair which is a required life skills event for all 3rd, 4th and 5th-year student-athletes. Many of the companies are represented by recruiters or employees who are past letterwinners. Nebraska Life Skills will seek letterwinner corporate involvement which often creates an immediate connection and appreciation for the student-athlete lifestyle and demands.

 Letterwinner Induction Ceremony

Implemented for the first time in the spring of 2014, the N-Club will now host Letterwinner Induction ceremonies twice per year. The inaugural event was held this spring on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the West Club of Memorial Stadium honoring all first-time letterwinners from every fall sports team. The honored student-athletes were introduced individually and came on stage to receive their letter jacket as presented by the Head Coach or designee, sport administrator and letterwinner alumni. At each ceremony, a distinguished letterwinner alum will speak to the impact of becoming a letterwinner. Athletic staff, coaches, parents, and letterwinner alums enjoyed a nice meal and special video tribute at the event. A similar event will be held every fall term to honor those Huskers from spring sports who earned their first varsity letter.

 Weekend of Champions Reunions

Starting in fall 2014, Nebraska teams who won a national championship or gained elite national recognition (Super Six, Final Four, College World Series or College Softball World Series birth) will be invited back to campus in decade anniversaries each fall for a special Weekend of Champions reunion. Invited teams will enjoy a reception/dinner, sport tickets, and in-game recognition. To date, 12 teams have been recognized through Weekend of Champions reunions.

 Integrated Outreach

Each spring, the Life Skills staff plans and hosts an annual service project for current student-athletes, letterwinner alumni and Nebraska Athletic Department staff. Partnering with Kids Against Hunger in April 2016, more than 200 volunteers packed 33,366 meals to send hungry children locally, nationally, and internationally.
