Nebraska improved to 62-51 all-time in the NCAA Tournament...the Huskers advanced to an NCAA Regional final for the third time in four seasons...Kiki Stokes began the game with a single to extend her hitting streak to 12 games, a career best...Stokes came around to score her 200th career run following the single, becoming the first Husker to score 200 runs...Cassie McClure tossed a shutout in the first NCAA Tournament start of her career.

Columbia, Mo.?- Behind a pair of first-inning runs and a three-hit shutout from junior Cassie McClure, the Nebraska softball team blanked BYU, 2-0, on Friday in an elimination game at the NCAA Columbia (Mo.) Regional.

With the win, Nebraska (35-20) advanced to Saturday's NCAA Regional final, where the Huskers will face No. 15 national seed Missouri at 1:30 p.m. If Nebraska wins, the two teams will play a winner-take-all game at 4 p.m.

Nebraska advanced to the regional final behind some early offense and a masterful performance from McClure. McClure (17-10) allowed only three singles while tossing her third shutout of the season. In the first NCAA Tournament start of her career, McClure struck out seven and walked two.

Offensively, Nebraska jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as four of the first five Huskers singled. Following consecutive singles from senior Kiki Stokes and junior MJ Knighten to start the inning, senior Mattie Fowler scored Stokes with a one-out RBI single. Senior Dawna Tyson then singled to load the bases for McClure, who lifted a sacrifice fly to right to score Knighten and push the lead to 2-0.

BYU was retired in order in the first, but the Cougars began the bottom of the second with back-to-back singles. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third before McClure recorded a pop out and a strikeout to end the threat.

The Cougars threatened again in the bottom of the third. A leadoff walk, a stolen base and a throwing error put McKenzie St. Clair on third base with one out. Lauren Bell then put down a bunt and Knighten fielded it at third and threw home to get St. Clair on a bang-bang play.

BYU had only one base runner over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before Alexa Strid drew a leadoff walk to begin the bottom of the seventh. But Nebraska got a force out at second and a strikeout before a fly out to center sent the Huskers to their third NCAA Regional final in four seasons.
