The Nebraska men's tennis team opens play in the 2016 Big Ten Championships by taking on No. 57 Wisconsin at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis on Thursday, April 28 at 9 a.m.
The ninth-seeded Huskers wrapped up the regular season with a 13-12 overall record and a 4-7 Big Ten mark. Nebraska tied with Wisconsin for eighth in the final conference standings.
Dusty Boyer, a senior from Ham Lake, Minn., leads the Huskers into the tournament with a hot hand. The two-time All-Big Ten performer is ranked No. 93 nationally in the ITA singles rankings.
The eighth-seeded Badgers completed their regular season with a record of 14-8 and a Big Ten Conference mark of 4-7. Wisconsin has lost its last five matches against Big Ten opponents.
In the first meeting this season between the Huskers and Badgers, then-No. 71 Nebraska dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to then-No. 37 Wisconsin at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln on March 27.
In a match that featured several marathon singles battles, Wisconsin won four three-set singles matches to claim the victory.
Dusty Boyer added a three-set win for the Huskers over Wisconsin's Josef Dodridge at No. 1 singles. Fellow Husker senior Marc Herrmann added a straight-set win at No. 2 singles. Boyer and Herrmann were also parts of doubles wins at the NU's top two doubles spots to earn the point.
