Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Nebraska men's tennis team closed regular-season action with a 4-0 loss at No. 22 Michigan on Sunday.
The Huskers slipped to 13-12 on the season and 4-7 in the Big Ten to finish in a tie for eighth with Wisconsin in final regular-season standings. Michigan closed the regular season 19-6 overall and 8-3 in the Big Ten to tie for third in the conference with Illinois. Ohio State won the Big Ten regular-season title with a perfect 11-0 conference mark to head to postseason play with a 27-2 overall record.
Michigan swept Nebraska at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the point, before claiming victories in the first three completed singles matches.
At No. 5, Tomislav Antoljak fell to Michigan's Kevin Wong, 6-2, 6-1 to push the Wolverine lead to 2-0.
Nebraska's Andrew Dzulynsky then dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Runhao Hua at No. 4 to extend the Michigan edge to 3-0.
Michigan's Jathan Malik then defeated Nebraska's Marc Herrmann, 6-2, 7-6 (2) at No. 2 singles to end the match. Malik was ranked No. 93 nationally heading into the match.
Dusty Boyer, who was ranked No. 80 nationally won his first set 7-5 and was tied 4-4 in his second set with Michigan's No. 113 Alex Knight. That match between nationally ranked opponents did not finish.
The Huskers head to the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. Action begins April 28.
