Huskers Fall to No. 33 Penn State

University Park, Pa. - The Nebraska men's tennis team fell to the No. 33 NIttany Lions in a split mark of 4-3. The Big Red currently hold a record of 11-6 and are 2-2 in Big Ten Conference compeition. 

The Huskers started off on the right foot, winning the doubles point with a victory at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Dusty and Toby Boyer took on David Kohan and Christian Lutschaunig at No. 1 where the Boyers went 6-4. At No. 2, Marc Herrmann and Scott Elsass competed against Leo Stakhovsky and Matt Barry where the Nittany Lions went 6-4 over the Huskers. With the doubles point being up in the air, Andrew Dzulynsky and Ford Zitsch took control at No. 3 in a tight battle against Constant De La Bassetiere and Matt Glaush going 7-5.

In singles competition, Toby Boyer and Barry competed at No. 3 where Barry went 6-3, 6-1 over Boyer putting the overall score at 1-1.

Dusty Boyer grabbed a hold of his competition at No. 1 where he defeated Stakhosky 7-5 in a close first set followed by a 6-3 mark in the second.

Zitsch and Ben Lieb battled it out at No. 6 where Lieb took the upper hand in the first set going 7-5 followed by 6-1 over Zitsch, putting the Huskers back in a tie at 2-2. 

Following at No. 5 singles, Tomislav Antoljake took a hit against Aws Laaribi 6-4, 6-4 giving the Nittany Lions a lead of 3-2.

Dzulynsky took down Tomas Hanzlik at No. 4 in a close 7-5 first set followed by a swift 6-2 mark in the second set, tieing the Huskers and the Nittany Lions yet again at 3-3. 

Coming down to the final match at No. 2, Herrmann suffered a tough loss to De La Bassetiere where he lost 6-4 in the first set. The second set came to a tie breaker where Herrmann fell 7-6 (10-8) in a very close finish and De La Bassetiere securing the win for the Nittany Lions at 4-3. 

The Husker return to competiton on Sunday, Apr. 3 at 11 a.m. in Columbus, Ohio to take on the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes.
