Huskers Card Final-Round 291 in Iowa City

Iowa City, Iowa – The Nebraska men’s golf team fired 291 in the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational on Sunday en route to a tie for ninth place.

The Huskers posted 885 over 54 holes after scores of 292 and 302 on Saturday. Kansas took home the team title with an 849 total, while Iowa State and Iowa each tied for second at 858.

Jackson Wendling and Jace Guthmiller each tied for 27th individually to lead the NU effort. Wendling led the Huskers on Sunday with a final-round 71. Guthmiller shot 73 in the final round after scores of 70 and 77 on Saturday.

Mike Colgate tied for 34th at 222. Colgate recorded rounds of 75 and 74 on Saturday before firing 73 on Sunday.

Justin Jennings shot 74 on Sunday to finish 49th individually. Jennings posted a 54-hole total of 226 after carding 73 and 79 in the first two rounds.

Sean Song fired his best score of the tournament on Sunday with a 74. He finished 75th at 238.

The Huskers return to action next weekend at the Big Ten Championships at Victoria National in Newburgh, Ind. The tournament runs from Friday to Sunday.
