Husker Fall to No. 70 Indiana, 4-2

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska men's tennis team suffered a tough loss to the No. 70 Indiana Hoosiers on Friday night, resulting in a 4-2 loss at the Dillon Tennis Center.

This loss dropped the Huskers at 11-11 in the season and 2-6 in Big Ten play, while Indiana improves to 8-14 overall and 3-5 in Big Ten action.

In doubles action, the Husker started off strong at No. 1 with the brother duo of Dusty and Toby Boyer taking down the Hoosiers' Daniel Bendnarczyk and Sam Monette in a 6-4 tally. At the No. 2 position, Marc Herrmann and Scott Elsass had a rough fight against Chris Essick and Stefan Lugonjic, where the Hoosier pair took a 6-4 win. The point came down to No. 3 doubles, where Andrew Dzulynsky and Ford Zitsch competed against Raheel Manji and Afonso Slagado. Zitsch and Dzulynsky took control towards the end of the match resulting in a 7-5 mark to secure doubles point for the Huskers.

Kicking off singles competition at No. 2, Herrmann got off to a rocky starty against Manji, who posted a 6-3, 6-2 win to even the match. 

At No. 4 singles, Toby Boyer took on Matthew McCoy, but McCoy went 6-4, 6-3 over Boyer. 

Zitsch began his match up at No. 5 against Cembellin with a 6-3 win, but was unable to close out the match as Salgado came back in the following two sets by scores of  6-2 and 6-1 to snatch the win. 

Nebraska rallied at No. 1 singles, as No. 122 Dusty Boyer had an impressive victory over Sam Monette, who was ranked 54th nationally.The two had a close first set resulting in a 7-6 (4) mark in favor of Boyer. Monette came back to take the second set 3-6, but it didn't stop Boyer from taking control of the final set. Boyer finished the dual 6-3 to get the Huskers back in the game at 3-2. 

Wrapping up singles at No. 3, Dzulynsky took on Bendnarczyk. Dzulynsky took the first set 6-2, but dropped the second 6-3. Bendnarczyk took control in a tie breaker in the third set 7-6 (2) to give Indiana the victory. 

The Huskers return to the Dillon Tennis Center this Sunday at 1 p.m. as NU takes on the Purdue Boilermakers.
