Blanske Earns Regular Season All-America Honors

Nebraska gymnastics senior Hollie Blanske earned a regular season All-America honor from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) on Friday. Blanske was the only Husker to receive this honor in the 2016 regular season.

The regular season All-Americans are determined by their final regional qualifying score (RQS) standings in the Road to Nationals rankings entering the NCAA Regional competition. The top eight gymnasts on each event and the all-around receive first-team honors. Gymnasts ranked No. 9-16 receive second-team honors, including all ties.

Blanske earned second-team honors in the all-around completing the regulars season with a RQS of a 39.420. This is Blanske’s first regular season accolade. Throughout Blanske’s career she has received three other All-America honors, 2014 on balance beam (first-team) and in 2015 on floor exercise (first-team) and in the all-around (second-team).

“It’s a nice honor,” coach Dan Kendig. “Earning an All-America honor in the all-around only confirms the consistency that Hollie has been showing all season.”

All-America status can also be earned at the NCAA Championships with the top-four earning first-team and No. 5-8 earning second-team, all ties are included.

Next Nebraska will compete at the NCAA Iowa City Regional. Nebraska is the No. 12 overall seed competing against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 13 Arkansas, Iowa, Kent State, and Central Michigan on Saturday, April 2. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tickets are available hawkeyetickets.com.
