Lottman Takes Pommel Horse Title on Senior Day

Lincoln, Neb. --- Senior All-American Ethan Lottman took home his fifth pommel horse title on Sunday's Senior Day, as the No. 7 Nebraska men's gymnastics team posted its third-highest score (432.45) in school history against No. 4 Minnesota and No. 6/9 Iowa at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers started the night on high bar where freshman Jordan King got the team off to a great start, finishing with 14.05 after sticking his landing. Antonio Castro led the event with a 14.30. Lottman added support, earning a 14.00. Daniel Leal and Anton Stephenson pitched in scores of 12.90 and 11.60, respectively. The Huskers finished with a 66.85 on the event. 

Despite struggling on the first event, the Huskers bounced back quickly on floor.  Kyle King led the event with a 15.65. Austin Epperson posted a 15.00, while Andrew Zymball finished with a career-best score of 15.05. Anton Stephenson scored 15.40 and Connor Adamsick earned a 14.30. As a team the Huskers earned a 75.40, the second-highest floor score in school history.

The Huskers used the momentum from floor to power through pommel horse. Lottman was the leader on the event with a 15.45. Castro and J. King earned personal-best scores on the event. Castro posted a 15.20, while J. King scored 14.80. Ryan Irick and A. Stephenson added 13.85 and 13.70, respectfully. The team earned a score of 73.00. NU swept the pommel horse awards. Lottman claimed first, Castro took home second and J. King placed third.

Halfway through the meet, Iowa led the triangular (217.500), Minnesota was in second (217.250) and Nebraska was in third (215.250).

On still rings, Alex Magsam led the team on the event with a new personal-best score of 14.95, earning him second place overall on the event. Epperson and Brenon Sommers added support with a 14.65 and 14.45, respectively. Irick earned a 14.00 for his routine, while Joshua Everit posted 13.35. A. Stephenson, competing in the all-around, scored 14.15. As a team, the Huskers posted a 71.40, the highest score on the event this season.

The team moved to vault, where NU earned 73.95. Anton Stephenson led the effort with a 15.00 and placed second overall on vault. K. King and Sam Chamberlain followed closely behind with scores of 14.90 and 14.85, respectively. Leal and Magsam each added 14.60.

Heading into the sixth event, the teams were in a tight race for first. Nebraska slid its way into second place after the fifth rotation, and had less than a one-point edge on Iowa. Minnesota had the lead, by just over three points.

Nebraska ended the night on parallel bars and had an impressive performance on the event. Senior All-American Sam Chamberlain led the team with 14.85, earning him third place across all teams. A. Stephenson and Epperson supported with scores of 14.60 and 14.45, respectively.

NU made up some serious ground on parallel bars after Minnesota struggled on its last event, but at the end of the night Minnesota took first with 433.850, and Iowa and Nebraska tied for second with 432.450.

A. Stephenson was Nebraska's only all-around competitor. The Fishers, Ind. native finished fourth with 84.45.

This concludes the Huskers' regular season. Nebraska begins postseason action on April 1, when the team travels to Columbus, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships.
