BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior Tierra Williams and senior Oladapo Akinmoladun earned first-team All-America finishes on the final day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Birmingham Crossplex.
Williams recorded a personal best on her first triple jump attempt, 43-4 1/2 (13.22m), and finished fifth to achieve first-team All-America honors for the first time in her career. The Auburn, Neb., product broke her previous personal best (43-2 1/2) on each of her first two jumps at the indoor championships. Williams' fifth-place finish is the best by a Husker female in any event at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2011.
Akinmoladun placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.77 in the final. A senior from Grandview, Mo., Akinmoladun wrapped up his Husker indoor career with his second straight first-team All-America finish after placing seventh last year.
In her first trip to indoor nationals, sophomore Reka Czuth cleared 5-11 1/4 (1.81m) on her third attempt, good for a tie for 10th. The sophomore from Pécs, Hungary had cleared 5-9 1/4 (1.76m) on two attempts and was one of 11 jumpers to attempt 6-0 1/2 (1.84m).
The men's 4x400-meter relay (Andy Neal, Oliver Alexandre, Mate Koroknai, Levi Gipson) finished in 10th place with a time of 3:08.48 in heat two of three.
The Husker women totaled four points to tie for 42nd, while the men earned four points to tie for 44th.
