Nebraska Head Coach Tim Miles

On the team’s low shooting percentage
“We took so many three’s. I didn’t think we were aggressive early until Tai (Webster) got in. We got some action from him. They’re one of the top defensive teams in the country, and you see why. To me, it was just a game of lost opportunity. There were so many different opportunities for us to sustain a run. When we did start scoring, we’d foul and just kill momentum. When we had a chance to tie or go ahead at the end of regulation and overtime, we didn’t get it done.”

On what Ohio State did to get Andrew White III out of his rhythm
“They’re quick to the ball and long and athletic. They switched stuff out to him, which we knew could happen. There were times we missed guys on slips. I don’t know if you would look at anybody’s line and they would tell you that they’re not shouldering some blame too. We just weren’t aggressive enough until late and when Andrew (White III) started rebounding, that’s when he started playing. We ran a little action for him and he made a tough shot at the end of regulation to give us that two point lead.”

On the tenacity on the boards by Andrew White III
“I was hoping that we would get Andrew going when we put him on the foul line for the technical. That didn’t work, but I think that one thing about Andrew is he is a special player and for him to find other ways to impact the game I thought was really good for us or else we don’t come back. We showed a lot of fight which was good but ultimately we just did enough to lose.”

Nebraska Forward Andrew White

On whether this the toughest loss of the season
"Absolutely. The toughest loss we’ve had. We had the game, I know that’s kind of a cliche but we didn't do what we needed to do to win the game and I feel like if I played 25 percent of what I'm capable of we’d probably come out with it. In the locker room, coach held everyone accountable for this play and that play and calls towards the end but I don’t look at it that way. I felt like I should’ve impacted this game on both ends of the floor to make sure we came out with it especially because it was a game right there in our hands so we can get into the logistics of it later but personally I just wanted to take some accountability for that loss."

On how he felt about his shots
"They felt good, I was confident. When you’re a shooter, sometimes they don’t go down and towards the end of the game I just tried to get my self engaged in the game by rebounding, defending Jae’Sean Tate because I knew that maybe if I could get something to fall it could help my team in some form or another going down the stretch."

On what Ohio State was doing defensively to make it so rough
"They had a long guy on me, their whole team was long and athletic but I got shots off, I got looks. There’s not gonna be many shots wide open that I get at this point of the year especially with my reputation so I wouldn’t attribute that to who was guarding me or anything like that I just didn’t make them."

On whether he made an extra effort on the boards
"Yes, when we got into crunch time and despite my rough shooting game and some other guys’ rough shooting game tonight we were right there in the game so since they weren’t falling I just figured I’m more of a complete player to just get down on myself for not making shots and my coaches challenged me and I didn’t want to go down and give up on the game because I wasn’t scoring points so I got on Jae’Sean, he was hot early and I just tried to get in the paint and clean up on the boards, just to do anything I could to come out with a win because I felt like I owed that to my team and the fans despite having a rough shooting night."

Nebraska Forward Jack McVeigh

On the team shooting 35 three's
"I think we found them when we were driving. We were digging pretty hard and there are big bodies in there, like he said, the whole team is long. We found a lot of open shots, they just didn’t fall tonight. Other nights they could've gone in more, it was on them and on us so I’m sure it was both teams’ game plans."

In this short rotation what do you say to yourself
"I was trying to be confident, stay confident like coach kept being in my ear telling me to make plays. During training, obviously I’m getting more reps in at practice and training stuff because Shavon is out so it’s all those little things just trying to be confident and help where I can, wherever the team needs it."

On first half defensive struggls
"I struggled against big bodies a little bit. They were quick, and he was catching it high post and just banging straight into me and then he got to the basket a couple times which was on me, obviously, so it was just kind of like the strength down low."

How'd you work through it?
"Just trying to be more active, make the catches harder. We had a game plan as well to help out and get low and make everything difficult for them, no matter what it was. Making shots tough."

Ohio State Head Coach Thad Matta

On the first half for JaQuan Lyle
“I told him he was too quick on everything in the first half offensively. He wasn’t waiting for the action to happen. He got himself in a bit of tough situations but I thought his poise, composure, his timing was much better. His ability to finish down there through the contact and making his free throws was tremendous for us.”

On how Lyle was down the stretch
“He had reads and we were low on time outs so we were doing a lot of things sort of on the fly. I thought our execution was pretty good down the stretch and obviously he made some tremendous plays.”

On what the game plan is with Andrew White III
“He is a tremendous player. It’s funny, he hit the first three, right in front of our bench and we kind of lit in to Keita (Bates-Diop), you know like hey, this kid is averaging about thirty points a game here the last few games. I thought Keita did a tremendous job just in terms of keeping him in front and challenging shots.”

On overall play defensively
“I thought it was good except for the rebounding. They crushed us on the offensive glass but that is something that has been pretty good to us. Late game, Marc (Loving) and Keita (Bates-Diop) got that trap and turnover in the press but that’s something that, I don’t know how many blocked shots we had, eight, that our guys did a pretty decent job of rotations and we just didn’t rotate back to rebound.”

On how this win on the road is
“You know it’s funny because I think that with this group we are like one day at a time and they know kind of what is going on. With that said, our focus is simply, we’ll back in to practice tomorrow and we have to find ways to be a better basketball team. Coming in here and getting a win tonight, this is a heck of a place to play. Nebraska had a lot on the line and I think from that perspective we are very excited about the win even though we may not have played as well as we could have, they (Nebraska) had a lot to do with that.
