Cedar Falls, Iowa - The Nebraska softball team scored early and often in an 11-2 five-inning victory over defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Drake on Saturday in the Huskers' second game of the day at the UNI-Dome Classic.

Nebraska, which defeated Western Illinois 3-2 in its first game Saturday, improved to 3-0 on the season. The Huskers scored three times in both the first and second innings, before bringing the run-rule into effect with a five-run fifth inning.

The first five hitters in the Husker lineup all finished with multiple hits, as Nebraska out-hit the Bulldogs, 14-5. Senior Kiki Stokes homered for the second straight game and finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and two runs out of the leadoff spot. Sophomore Laura Barrow was 2-for-4 with an RBI batting second, while junior MJ Knighten had another big game out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Knighten homered for the third straight game as part of a 3-for-4 day that included two RBIs and a career-high-tying three runs scored.

Senior Alicia Armstrong went 2-for-4 out of the cleanup spot, while junior Cassie McClure had a pair of hits and three RBIs while batting fifth for the Huskers.

While the offense stole the show, sophomore right-hander Kaylan Jablonski (1-0) was solid in the circle while earning her first victory of the year. Jablonski fired a five-hitter and allowed only one earned run.

Nebraska exploded for three runs in the top of the first inning. Barrow got things started with a one-out double. Knighten followed with a single before a fielder's choice left Huskers at first and second with two outs. McClure started Nebraska's two-out rally with a sharp single to right that scored Knighten and Armstrong also scored on the play following an error by the right fielder. Senior Mattie Fowler then grounded an RBI single up the middle to push the lead to 3-0. The Huskers had a chance for more, but left the bases loaded.

The Huskers scored three more runs in the top of the second inning. Stokes began the inning with a solo home run to right center. Knighten and Armstrong then reached on consecutive singles before both players scored on a two-run single from McClure, which pushed Nebraska's lead to 6-0.

Drake cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the third on a two-out, RBI double from Kennedy Frank.

Nebraska then brought the run-rule into effect with a five-run fifth inning. Fowler began things with a walk before sophomore Gina Metzler ripped a double to the gap in right center. Stokes then scored sophomore pinch runner Taylor Kadavy with an RBI single, before Barrow singled up the middle that scored both Metzler and Stokes. Knighten then capped the inning with a two-run homer to left that gave Nebraska an 11-1 lead.

Drake got one run back in the bottom of the fifth with the help of a Husker error before Jablonski wrapped up the victory with her third strikeout of the game.

Drake fell to 1-1 on the season with the loss. Mariah McKinnon (0-1) tossed a complete game, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits.

Nebraska wraps up its stay at the UNI-Dome Classic with a pair of games on Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. The Huskers face Green Bay first before closing the tournament against Saint Louis.
