Four Huskers Earn NFL Combine Invites

Nebraska will be well-represented at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine later this month in Indianapolis. Four members of the 2015 Huskers will show their skills at the Combine, including defensive tackles Maliek Collins and Vincent Valentine, fullback Andy Janovich and offensive tackle Alex Lewis.

The NFL Combine will combine will take place at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis from Feb. 23 through Feb. 29. Janovich and Lewis will be the first to arrive at the Combine, and will take part in on-field testing and position drills on Friday, Feb. 26. Collins and Valentine are part of an impressive crop of defensive linemen at the 2016 Combine, with the two hitting the field for testing and position drills on Sunday, Feb. 28.

The quartet of Huskers making the trip to the Combine made their mark on the field at Nebraska. Collins was a two-time second-team All-Big Ten selection in his three seasons at Nebraska and finished his career with 23 tackles for loss. Valentine has also been a disruptive force alongside Collins, starting 24 games over the past three years and racking up 18 tackles for loss.

Janovich had a standout senior year at fullback and on special teams. The honorable-mention All-Big Ten pick had 271 rushing yards in 2015, and was also Nebraska’s top special teams tackler. Lewis started every at left tackle the past two seasons, and helped Nebraska rank among the Big Ten’s best passing offenses last fall. 

The Huskers have been improving their NFL prospects since Nebraska's Foster Farms Bowl victory by putting some big numbers up while preparing for the NFL Combine and Nebraska's Pro Day. Valentine and Collins both put up impressive numbers on the squat rack while Alex Lewis played in the East/West Shrine Game on January 21st.
