Huskers Post Highlight Performances at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Nebraska track and field teams swept the team titles in the nine-team New Mexico Team Invitational on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center. 

The Husker men won the team title with 107 points to edge Texas Tech (90) and Kansas State (69). The Nebraska women finished first with 110 points, just ahead Colorado State's 108.5 points. 

The Huskers won four event titles, including three in women's field events. The NU men picked up the other event win in the 4x400-meter relay. 

Paula Andrie was the women's pole vault champion with a new personal best of 13-11 1/4 (4.25m). Her mark is the second-best in NU indoor history and puts her second in the Big Ten and 11th in the nation. Andrie did not miss through 13-11 1/4. Melanie Blum was third in the event with an indoor PR 12-11 1/2 (3.95m), while Karlye Cygan was fourth at 12-5 1/2 (3.80m), as the Huskers' women gathered 20 team points in the event. 

Reka Czuth claimed the women's high jump title with a personal-best height of 6-0 1/2 (1.84m), which ties her for eighth in NU indoor history. She moved into the Big Ten lead and is now tied for sixth nationally.

Tierra Williams captured the women's long jump title with a personal-best 20-7 3/4 (6.29m), cracking the all-time NU indoor top-10 list at No. 10. Her jump moved her into the Big Ten lead and tied for eighth in the nation. She also set a personal best in the triple jump for the third straight meet - 42-6 (12.95m) - to finish fourth. 

The men's 4x400 relay of Andy Neal, Mate Koroknai, Drew Wiseman and Oliver Alexandre set a season best of 3:07.54 to win the event with the sixth-fastest time in the nation this season and the third-fastest time in NU indoor history.

Davon Clark posted an all-time best triple jump of 50-11 (15.52m) on his last attempt to secure second place in the event and move to No. 2 in the Big Ten this season. Kaiwan Culmer was fourth at 49-0 3/4 (14.95m). 

Lakayla Harris ran 7.61 in the 60-meter dash to finish second, while Brena Andrews was fifth with a season-best 7.64. Harris added a third-place finish in the 200 meters with a season-best 24.23, while Quashira McIntosh (24.56) and Andrews (24.64) were fourth and sixth, respectively. 

Antoine Lloyd took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.83, while Oladapo Akinmoladun (8.08) was fourth and Sean Pille (8.16) was fifth.

Tristen Sharp finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 59-10 1/2 (18.25m). She was also fifth in the shot put at 48-9 1/2 (14.87m). 

Craig Driver (17-1), Beau Simmons (16-7 1/4) and Tyler Loontjer (16-7 1/4) went 3-4-5 in the pole vault. Cam Holmes was third in the 600 meters with a new PR for the second straight week, 1:19.28. 

Jazmin McCoy took third for the Huskers in the long jump, setting a season best of 19-9 (6.02m). Angela Mercurio was sixth in the triple jump with an indoor PR 40-3 1/2 (12.28m). 

Koroknai finished fourth in the 400 meters with a PR 47.06, the seventh-fastest indoor time in NU men's history. 

Jasmine Barge took fourth in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.52. Nick Percy was fourth in the men's weight throw, tossing 60-5 (18.41m). 

Malcolm White grabbed fifth place in the 200 meters with a time of 21.14. Grant Anderson was the Huskers' leader in the men's high jump, finishing fifth after clearing 6-10 3/4 (2.10m). Elijah Lucy's indoor long jump PR 23-2 3/4 (7.08m) placed him fifth as well. 

Matt Gilbert ran the mile in 4:12.86 to finish sixth. Karolina Pahlitzsch was sixth in the 400 meters in 55.76. Katrina Santiago was sixth in the 3,000 meters (10:13.83).

Nebraska hosts the 41st annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 and 6, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track.
