Lincoln, Neb. - After seeing a record crowd at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center last week, the Nebraska women’s tennis team hopes its season-opening victory brings fans back to watch the Huskers take on a pair of foes this weekend.
Nebraska hosts the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Dillon Tennis Center before facing Air Force on Sunday at 9 a.m. Admission to both matches is free.
Friday will kick off with doubles action against the Eagles, who are 1-2 on the season with both losses coming to Big Ten teams. EMU dropped 5-2 decisions at Michigan State and Purdue last weekend.
On Sunday, the Huskers will take on the Air Force Falcons. Air Force is 2-1 this year after winning its last two matches at home against Grand Canyon and Seattle. The Falcons will compete against Eastern Michigan on Saturday before facing Nebraska on Sunday.
The Huskers (1-0) are coming off a season-opening 7-0 sweep against South Dakota State last Friday. Nebraska was impressive against the Jackrabbits, with Maggy Lehmicke, Lisa Andersson, Mary Hanna, Vasanti Shinde and Katerina Matysova all posting victories in both singles and doubles play. Mackenna Maddox-Herr added a win at the No. 3 doubles spot, while Sydney Harlow was victorious at No. 6 singles.
