Huskers Overcome Ole Miss, Fall to Murray State

Oxford, Miss. --- The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team placed second in its match on Saturday against second-ranked Murray State and No. 16 Ole Miss. The Huskers finished with a team score of 4,672. Murray State ended in first with a score of 4,687, while Ole Miss placed third with 4,593. 

Denise Martin and Nina Radulovic had the top smallbore scores of the day across all teams, with scores of 588 and 584 respectfully, while Rachel Martin finished with a score of 576. The trio helped Nebraska claim second place after smallbore with a score of 2,315.  NU trailed Murray State by just four points heading into air rifle.  Murray State finished with a score of 2,319, while Ole Miss ended the discipline with a score of 2,252.

In air rifle, juniors Rachel Martin and Jaycee Carter both tallied scores over 590 to help the Huskers keep pace with Murray State. R. Martin scored 593, while Carter finished with 591. The team finished with an air rifle score of 2,357, but it was not enough to top the Racers. 

The Huskers will have another chance against Murray State next weekend on Jan. 23. The match, set in Murray, Ky., is set to begin at 1 p.m.
