Nebraska's All-Americans

Sarah Sasse, 1998-2003; First Team - 2003

Sarah Sasse became Nebraska's first women's golfer to receive first-team All-America honors in 2003. One of 11 golfers to make the list for All-Americans, Sasse was the only Big 12 golfer selected.

In addition, Sasse earned numerous other honors throughout her career, including the 2003 Big 12 Player-of-the-Year award, 2003 Scholastic All-America honors, 2003 April Big 12 Golfer of the Month, three-time All-Big 12 honoree, four-time academic All-Big 12 pick and three-time NCAA participant. She also holds the individual school record for the 36- and 54-hole scores with 138 and 209 strokes, respectively.

Sasse was inducted into the inaugural class of the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Lincoln, Neb. native graduated from Nebraska in 2003 with a degree in marketing.

Kate Smith, 2016-2021; Honorable Mention - 2021

Kate Smith became Nebraska's most recent All-American by claiming WGCA honorable-mention accolades following the 2021 season. The star from Detroit Lakes, Minn., enjoyed a history-making senior season, despite having her fifth year abbreviated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which eliminated the Big Ten fall season in 2020. Smith made the most of her extra year of eligibility after the 2020 spring season was canceled because of the pandemic. Smith stormed to the Big Ten individual title with a school-record-tying final round of 64 (-8) at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio. She became Nebraska's first Big Ten champion and just the third Husker in history to claim a conference title, joining Sarah Sasse (Big 12, 2003) and Rachelle Tacha (Big Eight, 1996).

Smith led the Huskers to a tie for second at the Big Ten Championship and to their first NCAA Regional appearance since 2008. Earlier in the spring, she became the first Husker in history to be invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur, where she just missed the cut for a top-30 finish among the top 82 amateurs in the world. Her outstanding senior season included the first invitation by a Husker golfer in history to play in the annual Arnold Palmer Cup. She was chosen to represent the United States in the Palmer Cup at Rich Harvest Farms in June of 2021.

Smith earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska as a graphic design major in May of 2021.

Joanne Brooks, 1989-92; Honorable-mention - 1992

The first NCAA All-American in Nebraska women's golf history, Joanne Brooks was one of the best golfers to ever compete for the Huskers.

When Brooks completed her eligibility after the 1993 season, she held nearly every NU individual school record. She earned All-Big Eight Conference and academic All-Big Eight honors three times. Brooks won the Edith Munson Award given to the nation's top student-athlete, was named an NCAA Scholastic All-American in 1990, 1991 and 1992, and was named to Nebraska's 25 Women of Distinction List in April 2000.

A native of Tauranga, New Zealand, Brooks also served as president of Nebraska's Athletic Advisory Committee.
