The Husker cross country team is preparing to take on the stiff competition at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 13. This will mark the second time this season the team competes at Rim Rock Farm. The women's race is set to start at Noon CT and the men's race will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
The men's team is coming off an 11th-place finish and a team score of 284 at the Big Ten Championship, which is its best score posted at the meet since 2011. Junior Peter Spinks led the team with a time of 24:34.9 and a 47th-place finish, marking the highest ranking for a Husker at the conference meet since 2011 as well. Alec Sery and Wyatt McGuire followed Spinks and placed 58th and 60th respectively.
The women's team is coming off a 13th-place finish at the Big Ten Championship after scoring 369 points. The women have had a tough battle with injuries throughout the season, especially with lead runner Anna Peer out and redshirting for the season. Sophomore Katrina Santiago led the women's team for the first time at the conference meet with a 72nd-place finish and a time of 21:50.7. Megan Lush and Bonnie Smith also placed among the top of the Husker women and are looking to help push the team to a solid finish at this weekend's meet.
