Iowa Player Quotes

Senior Offensive Lineman Austin Blythe
On how long they are going to celebrate
"Until Sunday, when we find out who we are playing next week. We are going to enjoy this one especially since we played on Friday. Enjoy the games tomorrow and see who we play."

On how he felt going off the field as a senior
"I was a little emotional coming off the field just because I have never been a part of a team like this. Everyone fights for each other, no individuals, just a total team effort, and that's why we are here, 12-0 now."

On how the defense did
"They played their butts off, we needed them to make plays and stop the bleeding a little bit and they absolutely did. That just goes back to total team football, everyone playing for each other. One side of the ball picking up the other side of the ball."

On the two touchdown runs right after halftime
"It was just the mentality. We weren't playing like ourselves, especially up front in the first half. We just wanted to come out and make the same plays and execute them to the best of our ability. "

On if the two touchdown plays were the same
"No they weren't, but they kind of looked like it."

On how this win felt
"It feels even better. Just total team effort and being able to share it with everybody is really nice."

On the big picture of their turn around
"At halftime we just reminded each other, we have been talking about finishing for 11 months now and it feels really good to go out and do it. Just to do it with this group and this team, who has been working together so hard and so long it feels really good."

On other trophies to go for
"Absolutely, we still have three more to go for but for right now we are going to enjoy this one."

On Nebraska's penalties and turnovers
"We didn't really talk about penalties, but defiantly the turnovers. For the most part I think we did a good job capitalizing on those turnovers today but that's an area we can definitely improve on next week"

On the fullbacks
"It's all 11 guys doing their job, the O-line and the fullbacks, all those guys taking it to the next level, those wide receivers blocking down field to make the explosive runs you know we can make, so it was a total team effort."

On what team effort means to their team
"I think we just constantly talk about it. We just really remind each other that you are playing for 105 other guys on the team and football is an 11-man game. So you get 11 guys working together and I think that is just what we've been doing well is keeping everyone together and that we need to win as a team."

On how much pressure they felt
"I didn't feel any pressure. I think the offensive line just understood that we needed to keep doing things that we have been doing. Just playing together playing tough and physical just like we did today."

On what their coach was like in the lockerroom
"He was emotional, just to be able to do that for him was really fun. Just knowing how he coaches and what he stands for. It isn't all about winning to him. He wants us to be better men when we are off the field and done. And just to be able to go out there and play for your team and play for a win is really satisfying."
