Colgate Goes Even-Par in Final Round to Lead NU

Benton Harbor, Mich. - The Nebraska men’s golf team closed out the Fossum Memorial on Tuesday with a final round 299. The Huskers fired a pair of 299s on Monday to finish in fourth place at 897 strokes.

Junior Mike Colgate led NU on Tuesday by firing an even-par 72 to finish 12th at 220 strokes. The Sarasota, Fla., native carded 75 and 73 on Monday en route to a 4-over par tournament finish.

Finishing tied for 15th was junior Justin Jennings. Jennings posted a pair of 74s before a final round 75. Jennings finished the Fossum Memorial one stroke ahead of freshman Sean Song. Song carded a 76 on Tuesday en route to a 17th place finish at 224 strokes.

Jace Guthmiller fired a 76 on Tuesday to finish in 19th place. Guthmiller finished the tournament at 230 strokes after carding 76 and 78 in the first two rounds. Freshman Joel Sneed carded his best round of the Fossum Memorial on Tuesday. The freshman from Leland, Mich., posted a final round 78 en route to a 24th place finish with a 244 stroke-total.

Michigan State won the team competition with a three-round total of 833 strokes. The Huskers will close out the fall campaign on Oct. 19-20, where they will compete in the Maryland Invitational at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.
