On if he feels 100 percent
“No, definitely not. I’m good enough to go though. That’s all. Just keep working in the training room and keep working in lifting and try to get back. Definitely not 100 percent but good enough.”
On how to kick in the wind
“The thing is you can’t think too much. Sometimes you get away with just trying to think too much about punting in the wind like that. I think it’s a blessing growing up in the state of Nebraska because you practice in those conditions all the time. I think the one thing you have to do is just hold on to the ball a little longer and try to have less air time between your hand and your foot. The wind can’t move your ball. I just try to hold it a little bit longer and just try to hit a clean ball into the wind. Once it leaves your foot, it’s at the fate of the wind. You just try to get it off to a good start so hopefully it’ll end with a good ending.”
On pride taken when seeing points being created by punts
“I take great pride in that. I was asked earlier, what do you take more pride in, a 60-yard punt or a 30-yard punt down at the one, and that’s always a 30-yard punt at the one. At the end of the day, you’re not only doing your job, but you’re also helping out the defense. You’re putting them in a great position to pin their ears back and make a play. I obviously take great pride in that.”
On pride taken in Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week award given to him this week
“It’s great. The best thing about this award is I get to share it with 10 other guys. Without them. There is no award for me without a guy like Chris Jones down at the one-yard line, without a guy like Jordan Ober snapping me the ball, my coverage guys running down there. Knowing there could be some guy coming to blind side them at any moment whenever they’re just pinning their ears back and making plays. That’s huge for this whole punt team. I was proud of the punt team and proud of the whole special teams. I thought we did a good job all day.”
On Wisconsin
“It’ll be a fun game. It’ll be another Big Ten game, obviously, and I’m excited for it. You always look forward to playing the top competition and Wisconsin is a top competition type of team that you want to go against every year. We’ve won some, we’ve lost some, so I’m just excited for Saturday to see the atmosphere. Two hungry teams are going to have to put their best foot forward and try to get a win on Saturday. I’m excited for it.”
