Pre-Wisconsin

Chris Weber
Sophomore, Linebacker

On the feel of team
“It is what it is, you know, that’s how we are looking at it. We gotta get better. We gotta use this week to get better and prepare to play Wisconsin.”

On the linebacker position
“The biggest challenge is how they get to their basic plays. They do a lot of shifts and window dressing. They are really running the same basic plays. Just making sure we are seeing what we need to see and get everybody lined up.”

On Wisconsin’s system
“They kind of have the same identity, they want to run the football. So, that’s something we’re gonna have to stop right away.

On confidence
“Once you’ve played a couple games, it’s a different feeling going into the next one knowing that you’ve done it before. So, my confidence has grown in that sense.”

On loss and keeping team together
“Like I said, we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. No one is going to really feel sorry for us and Wisconsin is not going to feel sorry for us. So, we gotta come back this week and prepare like we should so we have a chance to play a great game on Saturday.”

On 17 tackles against Illinois
“It’s a lot to do with Maliek (Collins) and Kevin (Maurice) working up front is what it was and just being around the ball. Those guys deserve just about as much as I did after watching the game.”

Surprised?
“I was surprised when I saw that (17 tackles) after the game. When you’re in the game, I had no idea, but after the game I looked at it and I was pretty surprised.”

On preparing to start (next game)
“Yeah, I guess the same thing, just look at and see how “Bando” (Josh Banderas) is doing. Talk with the coaches and see what my role is this week and prepare like I am going to be out there.”

On Wisconsin’s run game
“We’re going to find out how good we are at stopping the run. I think that with Wisconsin you are really going to find that out real quick. We have to continue to do the things that make us successful in the past weeks with stopping the run.”

On Wisconsin’s play-action
“You have to be discipline with your eyes to see what you need to see and take care of your coverage. But at first if you stop the run, it will then be easier to see the play-action.”

On mental toughness
“We put so much into this that we’re not going to pack up our bags and go into a corner. We’ll come out ready to go.”
