Bethesda, Md. - The Nebraska men’s golf team closed out the Terrapin Invitational on Tuesday with a final round 302 to finish ninth. The Huskers carded a first round 306 on Monday’s shortened day due to frost.
Freshman Jackson Wendling led NU on Tuesday by firing even par to finish tied for 19th at Woodmont Country Club’s par-72, 7,250 yard North Course. Wendling carded 77 in Monday’s first round to give him a 149 stroke-total at the Terrapin Invitational.
Juniors Mike Colgate and Justin Jennings both tied for 25th at 151 strokes. Colgate carded a first round 76 before firing 75 on Tuesday. Jennings posted 75 and 76.
Clayton Peterson competed as an individual in Maryland. The sophomore carded 79 and 77 in the first two rounds, respectively, to finish tied for 44th. Freshman Sean Song posted 82 on Tuesday after a first round 78 to finish tied for 53rd. Song finished three strokes ahead of senior Aaron Wong. Wong fired 79 on Tuesday after 84 on Monday to finish 61st.
James Madison won the team competition by shooting 581 over two rounds. The Terrapin Invitational is the final tournament of the Huskers fall campaign. NU returns to action February 12-13, when they compete in the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Coast, Fla.
