Huskers Collect Three Wins at ITA Regionals

Stillwater, Okla.– The Nebraska women’s tennis team produced a trio of singles victories on the second day of the ITA Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Okla,, on Friday.

Senior Maggy Lehmicke (Kirkland, Wash.) notched Nebraska's first win of the day with a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Ana Sofia Cordero of Southern Illinois in main draw singles action. Lehmicke later fell to Oklahoma State’s Katerina Adamovic in a tough loss of  6-2, 6-1.

Nebraska’s Katerina Matysova (Erding, Germany) added a 6-4, 7-5 win over AnneMarie Emme of Minnesota in consolation singles before falling to Drake's Maddie Johnson 6-1, 6-4.

Freshman Vasanti Shinde (Pune, India) pulled a swift 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alex Bergman of Minnesota to cap the Huskers' third singles win. Shinde later fell to Missouri's Turner Yates 6-2, 6-1.  

The Big Red return main draw doubles and consolation singles and doubles action Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Action at the ITA Central Regional Championships continues through Monday.
