Huskers Ready for the Bradley Classic

Peoria, Ill. – The Nebraska cross country team makes its next stop of the season at the Bradley Classic this Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Newman Golf Course.

This will be the second straight year in which the Cornhuskers compete at the Bradley Classic meet. Last year the men took second place out of 27 while the women took 13th out of 32.

The Husker men are looking to bounce back from a third-place finish at the Kansas Rim Rock Classic two weeks ago. Peter Spinks once again led the pack for the men and came in eighth, followed by Jacob Olson at 11th, Matt Gilbert at 18th, and Alec Sery at 20th. Spinks and the rest of the team are looking to getting back on the winning track after coming in first in two out of the last three meets.

The Husker women are looking to make a statement behind sophomore Bonnie Smith, who led the women for the third straight event at the Kansas Rim Rock Classic. Smith came in 17th, followed by Katrina Santiago at 25th, Megan Lush at 26th, and Haley Harsin at 34th. The women placed fourth at the event despite the absence of top runner Anna Peer due to injury. The team hopes to continue to improve on Friday.

This will be the last regular-season meet before the Big Ten Championships, which will take place on Nov. 1 in Evanston Ill.
