Huskers Drop 3-0 Match to No. 14 Gophers

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska soccer team (5-5-2, 1-3-2 Big Ten) fell by a 3-0 margin to No. 14 Minnesota at Barbara Hibner Stadium on Friday night.

The Huskers outshot the Golden Gophers, 11-9, but Minnesota goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs earned five saves to preserve the shutout. Senior Jaylyn Odermann led the NU offense with three shots, two of which were on goal. Caroline Buelt and Lia Baldo each managed two shots on goal.

Minnesota’s Simone Kolander scored a pair of goals in the first 30 minutes, including a penalty kick in the seventh minute. In the 29th minute, Kolander notched her ninth goal of the season off an assist from Sydney Squires. Squires contributed to the Gopher scoring with a goal of her own in the 76th minute.

NU goalkeeper Erika Johnson collected three saves on the night. The sophomore from North Oaks, Minn., has 57 saves this season.
