Valentine - The Nebraska men's golf team fired a final round 301 on Monday to finish 12th at the Jackrabbit Invitational.
Mike Colgate led the Big Red on Monday with a one-over par 73 to finish tied for 38th at 226 strokes. Colgate, a junior from Sarasota, Fla., carded three birdies on Monday to close out the Jackrabbit. Fellow junior Justin Jennings had his best outing at the Jackrabbit on Monday by firing a 3-over par 75 at the Prairie Club. Jennings fired four straight birdies on the front nine to help him finish tied for 55th place with a 231 stroke-total.
Freshman Jace Guthmiller finished second among the Huskers. Guthmiller carded a final round 81 to finish tied for 42nd with a 227 stroke-total. Guthmiller finished the tournament one stroke ahead of freshman Sean Song. Song fired a final round 76 to finish tied for 47th.
Jackson Wendling also had his best round of the Jackrabbit on Monday. Wendling, a freshman from Effingham, Ill., carded a 77 to finish tied for 69th at 239 strokes. South Florida finished first at the tournament with an 846 stroke total. NU continues the fall campaign on October 5-6, when they travel to Benton Harbor, Mich., for the Bruce Fossum Memorial.
