Valentine, Neb. - The Nebraska men's golf team is in 11th place at the Jackrabbit Invitational after shooting a first round 310 on Saturday.
NU was led by freshman Jace Guthmiller in Saturday's first round. Guthmiller fired two birdies to finish the round tied for 15th place at 3-over par. Guthmiller finished three strokes ahead of junior Justin Jennings and freshman Sean Song. Both carded 78 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 39th place heading into the second round.
Junior Mike Colgate finished the day tied for 45th place at 79 strokes. Colgate is four strokes ahead of freshman Jackson Wendling. Wendling is tied for 63rd at the Prairie Club's par-72, 7,522-yard layout. Michigan State leads the team competition after day one at 290 strokes. Sunday's second round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live stats will be available at golfstat.com.
