Valentine, Neb. - Following a two-week break from competition, the Nebraska men's golf team returns to action for the Jackrabbit Invitational at the Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb., Saturday through Monday.
The tournament will commence on Saturday, Sept. 26, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Monday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Representing NU will be juniors Mike Colgate and Justin Jennings as well as freshmen Jackson Wendling, Jace Guthmiller and Sean Song.
The Prairie Club in Valentine, a par-72, 7,785-yard layout, will play host to thirteen teams including intrastate rival Creighton as well as Big Ten foe Michigan State. The other teams in the field are Oregon, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Missouri, South Florida, Central Florida, McNeese State, Cincinnati, Connecticut, and host South Dakota State. The Prairie Club is ranked second-best course in Nebraska by Golf Digest as well as number 78 on Golf Magazine's top-100 public courses in the country.
Last time out, the Huskers collected a tie for sixth place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, Sept. 13-14. Leading NU was junior Mike Colgate, who fired a second round 68 to help tie for 10th in Normal, Ill. Live stats for the Jackrabbit will be available at Golfstat.com.
