Normal, Ill. - The Nebraska men’s golf team closed out the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Monday with a final round 306 to tie for 6th place.
Nebraska was led by junior Michael Colgate, who carded a final round 76 to finish tied for 10th place. Colgate fired 76 and 68 in Sunday’s first two rounds to give him a 7-over par, 220-stroke total for the tournament. Sean Song carded 78 after a pair of 74s on Sunday to compile a 226 stroke total and a tie for 34th place. Song finished two strokes ahead of freshman Joel Sneed. Sneed fired a 77 on Monday to finish tied for 42nd place.
Junior Justin Jennings posted a final round 80 to tie for 52nd place at 230 strokes. Jennings finished one stroke ahead of freshman Jackson Wendling. Wendling had the best final round of all the Huskers by firing a 75. Wendling finished tied for 60th place.
Illinois State won the team competition with a final round of 287 and an 862-stroke total. NU continues the fall campaign in Valentine, Neb., for the Jackrabbit Invitational, Sept. 26-28.
